Janet Plympton

After her first ten years spent at Cherry Meadow Farm in East Northport, under the tutelage of Dorothy Sachey, Janet continued her riding and showing with Hugh Cassidy before attending Sullins College in Bristol, Virginia, where she received an Associate BA in Equestrian Arts. As a young professional, she trained the first rider to qualify for and win both the Mini Medal and Mini Maclay Finals, in 1976. During the 80’s, her students earned many series and LIHSAA prizes. She reinstated her amateur status i n 1989, and rode with the Caristo’s, Andre deLeyer, and Bob Savage, all of whom contributed to her success. In 1995, her horse, The Beach Boy was Zone II Adult Amateur Hunter Champion, and in 1996, March On, earned Best of America’s Horse, in the same division, from the American Quarter Horse Association. She’s qualified many horses for the Zone Hunter Finals for several years, and is the recipient of over 40 LIHSAA awards.

Aside from riding, Janet managed a very popular unrated show series, Country Fair Horse Shows, for 12 years, and has been an avid member of both LI High Score Awards Association and LI Professional Horsemens Association. She is now the treasurer of both organizations.

Additionally, Janet operates and maintains her Morningstar Farm, and has for 28 years.

As of this Spring, Janet is resuming her professional status. She has always been focused on creating horsemen, not just riders. So, her riders become educated in all the aspects of horsemanship, in and out of the barn. And, above all, she want her students’ experiences to be fun and rewarding, whether they are interested in showing or not.

Linda Prisco Panetta

Linda began her riding career at age 7 and after just a few lessons, her dad bought her a horse. From that point on, Linda admits that she was basically self-taught. As a junior, Linda kept her horse at Bethpage Stable and showed in the equitation divisions. On weekends when she was not at horse shows, this busy young woman was a guide who took people on trail rides into the park.

After her junior years, Linda began teaching at Parkview Riding School where she worked for 18 years. During this period, she had a wonderful opportunity to train down south with the legendary Gordon Wright. She also rode in many clinics throughout the years with both Wright and George Morris. She encouraged her students at Parkview to also participate in clinics with these two acclaimed horseman and in fact, arranged for Gordon Wright to come to Parkview to conduct a clinic.

Linda also rode with Robert Hoskins and had the opportunity to show many green horses successfully in the hunter divisions. Most of her experience was gleaned from riding and schooling green sale horses. She also spent many hours schooling green horses for her clients.

Many of Linda's students have been successful in both local and zone competitions, from Leadline through Medal Maclay.

Linda has been free-lancing since 1994 when she left Parkview.
